Can i use a paint node i have in a graph trough the layering project i bring it in

Question

in order to work around the miss of the anchor point i tried to use a graph to instance a paint mask over multiple layers and groups, it does work but i would like to know if i can expose the node itself in order to being able to paint with it directly trough the layering project where i’m using it, in a way to avoid back and forth between projects, and to being able to see the changes IRT instead of having to paint without to know the final result while painting, because in this way the process becomes a bit slower.

Question Demonstration

My dream

In general i would like a more seamless experience between the two, in a way to setup complex things in the nodes and being able to make changes to the graph while watching at the L_Project view-port. in this way i think we wouldn’t need anchor point anymore.
More then a dream it’s similar to what i do in blender where at a side i have an area for the nodes and at the other side i keep the view-port with the same object, and i just switch the mat or node group in the graph but the view-port stay the same.
I know here it’s a different story with the projects but would be interesting to have this more seamless workflow.

Hello @HoH,

I’m having trouble understanding your post. Could you please clarify?

Regarding painting using a layering project, a user has created a video here that demonstrates how to paint on an asset using the Layering UI, then using it as a mask in another layering project by creating a custom element. This mask can then be used with multiple layers in the layer stack.

Thanks!
