Exporting channels with different bit depths

My goal is to export the different channels with the bit depth chosen in the “Layering Project Editor”, e.g. Base Color as 8 bpp, Normal as 16 bpp.

When I set “Image Export Bit Depth” to “Inherit” in the “Image and Data Output Export” window, the Base Color image is exported as 16 bpp. Strangely, the Roughness channel is correctly exported at 8 bpp and the height channel as 16 bpp.

Is that a bug or am I missing something?

When setting the Image Export Bith Depth to Inherit, are you using an output template with the Image and Data Output Export window?

Thanks for clarifying!

We’re investigating a possible issue with output templates. If you disable the output template, but enable BaseColor, Roughness, and Normal on the left under the Image and Data Output section, does the bit depth of the exported images correspond with what you have set in the Layering Project Editor panel?

many thanks for your quick follow-up! Yes, it seems to be a bug with the template. I’ve exported as you suggested without the template and it works flawlessly.
