Metalness map is not disabled from Output in Materialize project

I’m creating a project in Materialize and I don’t need the Metalness map, so I turn it off. It doesn’t show up in the Output section…

but if I put this material in another graph, the Metalness map is present in the output pins.

Also, when the Metalness map is turned off, its bookmark is displayed above the 2D image, although it should not be there:

Hello @MrDixioner,

I’d like to clarify why the metalness map is still visible both in the Image Viewer as a tab and as an output when instancing the project as a node when the Metalness switch is disabled.

Enabling the Metalness switch allows InstaMAT to designate where metallic surfaces are for the PBR material by either using a color from the input image or a provided mask input. Disabling the switch leaves the metalness map as black making it so that there are no metallic parts of the material. PBR materials require a metalness channel, and black is considered valid information.

The tab in the Image Viewer remains because it is another way to see if there are any metallic surfaces on the material. Additionally, having the metalness output when the project is instanced as a node is important because a value of black means that there is no metalness information for that designated area. By instancing the material in an Element Graph, users can use nodes to add or adjust the metalness output.

I hope this clarifies the behavior and I’ll bring up to the team about the Metalness output not showing up in the Outputs section.

Thanks!

Thank you very much for your reply! In that case, maybe remove the Bug tag from my post and leave everything as is? You explained the situation to me and I don’t think it requires consideration. Sorry if I jumped to conclusions :frowning:
